What we do

Everything in stone, done properly.

Most of our work is residential, much of it through designers and builders who send us the same details over and over. Tell us the stone and the space and we will template, cut and fit it.

How we charge

We do not mark up your slab. You pay us for the work.

Most fabricators buy the stone, add a margin, and hand you one number you cannot take apart. We would rather you choose your own slab at the supplier, pay the supplier for it, and pay us for templating, cutting, finishing and installation. The quote you get is the price you pay.

The slabPaid to your supplierYou choose it at the yard and pay their price. Nothing added on top by us.

About us

A family shop that cuts its own stone.

Veritas Stone is a family owned fabricator working out of a shop on Savage Road in Richmond. The trade was handed down rather than picked up, and that tends to show in the answers you get about a slab before you commit to it.

We design, fabricate and install natural stone surfaces, and we bring material in from suppliers here and overseas, so a kitchen is not limited to whatever happens to be standing on the floor that week. The people who take the measurements are the people who come back and set the stone.

Materials

Seven stones, and how each one behaves.

Every stone wants different handling, a different edge detail and different care once it is in. If you are deciding between two slabs, call us before you buy rather than after and we will tell you how each one is going to behave.

Granite

Hard, dense and every slab is different. The all-rounder for a kitchen that gets used.

Marble

Soft stone with the veining people fall for. It etches, and wears into a patina.

The look of marble with the toughness of granite. Hard enough for a busy kitchen.

Great service and after care. Delivery and installation was seamless. Lloyd is honest and professional, and his dad is a real character. They did our bathroom, kitchen, and island: all look like new 1 year later.

I’m a real estate agent and have seen many homes and hired them for my home renovation. They did incredible work with all the details that my renovation required including custom shelves, intricate side panels, and waterfalls.

Questions

What people ask before they book.

Straight answers to the questions Lloyd hears most. If yours is not here, call the shop.

What kinds of stone do you work with?

Natural granite, marble, quartzite and onyx, plus engineered quartz, porcelain and sintered stone. All of it is cut and finished in our Richmond workshop.

Do I have to buy the slab from you?

We do not mark up your slab. You choose the stone, and what you pay us is for the work: templating, cutting, finishing and installation.

Which stone is best for a kitchen countertop?

Quartz is the lowest maintenance: non-porous, no sealing, consistent colour, though hot pans should go on a trivet. Granite takes heat and hard use and every slab is different. Marble is beautiful but etches with lemon, wine and vinegar, so it suits people who like a surface that ages. We will talk it through against how you actually cook.

Is stone a good choice for bathrooms and showers?

Yes. Stone and porcelain slabs stand up to water and daily use, and large slabs mean far fewer grout lines to keep clean. Natural stone in a wet area should be sealed.

Do you do fireplaces and wall cladding?

Yes. Fireplace surrounds, hearths and interior and exterior wall cladding are a regular part of our work. We check the clearances on your fireplace spec before anything is cut.

What finishes can I choose?

Polished is glossy and shows the colour at its deepest. Honed is matte and hides fingerprints. Leathered has a soft, textured feel. Not every stone is available in every finish, so ask about the slab you have in mind.

How do I clean and care for stone?

Warm water and a mild detergent for everyday cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners, which can dull the surface. Natural stone generally needs resealing every 6 to 12 months depending on the stone. Quartz and porcelain do not need sealing.

Do you take on commercial work?

Yes. Reception desks, restaurant table tops and bar areas, and washroom counters, as well as homes.

Can you fix a countertop another company installed?

Often, yes. We have corrected and replaced other installers’ work. Send us photos and we will tell you whether it can be repaired or needs replacing.

Where do you install?

Across the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island. The full list of cities is just above.

Request a quote

Send us the drawings, or just the room.

A photograph of the space and a rough measurement is enough to start. We will tell you what the stone will do, what it will take, and what it will cost.
