Granite countertops.
Hard, dense and different in every slab. Granite is the countertop that shrugs off a kitchen that actually gets cooked in.
What granite is
Granite is an igneous rock formed from cooling magma, made mostly of quartz and feldspar. That mineral mix gives each slab its speckle, movement and colour, and it is why no two granite kitchens look the same.
Where it works best
Kitchen countertops and islands, bathroom vanities, fireplace surrounds and outdoor kitchens. It handles heat from pans and fireplaces well and stands up to knives and daily wear. Busier patterns hide crumbs and water spots; quieter ones read closer to quartz.
Care and sealing
Wipe it down with warm water and a mild detergent. Most granite should be sealed, typically every 6 to 12 months depending on the stone. A quick water test tells you when: if a few drops darken the surface, it is time. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive pads, which dull the polish.
How we work with it
You choose your slab at the supplier and pay the supplier directly. We do not add a margin. We template on site once the cabinets are in, cut on our CNC saw in Richmond, and finish the edges by hand.
Questions about granite
Is granite still a good choice compared with quartz?
Yes, if you want natural variation and heat resistance. Quartz is more uniform and needs no sealing. Granite takes hot pans better and every slab is one of a kind.
Does granite stain?
Sealed granite resists most everyday spills. Oil or wine left overnight can mark lighter, more porous granites, so wipe spills up and keep it sealed.
