Sintered stone surfaces.
Minerals fused under extreme heat and pressure. Among the toughest surfaces you can put in a kitchen, inside or out.
What sintered stone is
Sintered stone is made by compacting natural minerals and fusing them at very high temperature, without resin. Dekton is the best-known brand.
Where it works best
Outdoor kitchens, fireplace surrounds, countertops, wall cladding and anywhere that sees heat or sun. It resists heat, UV, scratches and stains.
What to know before you choose it
Like porcelain, it is hard to cut and can chip at an edge under a sharp knock, so it needs careful fabrication and well-chosen edge details.
Care
Warm water and a mild detergent. It never needs sealing.
